Suggest Treatment For Swollen Neck

Question: Hello doctor. A few days ago I noticed a swelling on my neck so I visited a doctor. He inspected my neck and said it was likely due to a muscle spasm. The swelling was symmetrical on both sides of the neck, and it did not hurt when he pressed on them. In this case, how long should I expect the swelling to disappear under usual circumstances? What can I do to help ease the swelling? Thank you

Brief Answer:
High resolution ultrasonography and color doppler

Detailed Answer:
Hi.
Thanks for your query.
To recapitulate: Male/21 - noticed swelling on neck a few days ago- visited a Doctor - feels muscle spasm - symmetrical on both sides - non tender - wants to know how long should you expect the swelling to disappear and what can be done to ease the swelling...

Please give some additional information:
- Do you do exercises? Gym?
- Any symptoms do you have?
- What was the advise of your Doctor? Has you been advised any medications?

Since you have already been examined by a Doctor, continue his advise.
I would advise you the following in such a situation:
Get a confirmation by doing high resolution ultrasonography and color doppler of the neck . This will give you the most confirmed diagnosis and hence the proper plan of actions to be taken only if needed.

I hope this answer helps us to get a diagnosis, please feel free to give me the feedback and ask relevant queries if you feel that there is a gap of communication.

Yes. I work out at the gym three tines a week. Do not have swelling under my chin. My doctor said that it is likely muscle swelling and have not provided medications. Attached is the postiiton of my neck swelling, as pointed by my finger. Swelling is symmetrical on both sides

As advised

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your feedback.
The picture shows what you mean by.
Please get the ultrasound as advised. This will confirm whether there are any lymph nodes hidden or any other possible remotely thought problems which need timely diagnosis or need to be ruled out. Insist for this and please give me the feedback report.
All the best.
Have a great day.
Stop exercises till the ultrasound report.
