Brief Answer:
It can be due to bartholin cyst or abscess.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for writing to us.

It can be due to an allergic response caused by contact with some soap, deodorant and other irritating substances.

It can be resolved with ice pack and antihistamine drugs.

The other most probable cause is bartholin gland cyst or abscess depends upon where it is situated, if it is in that respect, then it needs warm compression and antibiotic for its treatment and sometimes it require minor incision and drainage procedure which can be done in OPD.

You can follow my advice for your trouble-

- Wear loose fitting cotton undergarments.
-Maintain your basic vaginal hygiene
-Drink a lot of water and eat healthy and balanced diet
-Avoid soap, deodorant, perfumes etc.
-You can take pain killer for pain.

Please follow my advice and if the swelling will not decrease in a few days, please contact your treating doctor and get yourself examine and treatment accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query if you have further questions I will be happy to assist you.

Good luck.
Regards
Dr.Richa
