Brief Answer:
Sometimes the artery at the temple becomes prominent

Detailed Answer:
Hi welcome to HCM,
Sometimes the artery at the temple becomes prominent especially if it is affected by migraine and it appears to be a swelling.
It reduces by itself.
If it does not subside, we have to look for a dilatation in the artery called an aneurysm.
Is it possible for you to send the picture?
And does the swelling 'throb'?
Please revert back. Regards.

There is no throbbing.

And no headache.

I don't know how to send u a pic as I have no personal email for u.

Also, not sure if it's a vein or artery as if u touch your temple u r going to feel a slight pulse. Please get back with me ASAP. No symptoms really other than cosmetic.

Should I be using heat or ice on area?

Brief Answer:
Since there is no throbbing or headache, it is probably from a vein

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Since there is no throbbing or headache, it is probably from a vein and not artery.
You can use ice but not heat. Ice should do no harm. Since there are no symptoms, I would say, wait and watch. Only if it does not clear up, or worsens see your doctor. Regards
