Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of GERD

Question: Hello, my name is XXXXXXX I am a 28 year old male. I work out different muscle groups every morning and play pick up basketball every Thursday. Recently, I have been having a serious of chest pains, like something is stuck in the middle of my chest along with shortness of breath and a light cough. Generally, when I get a cold I have light symptoms, I don't get running noses or sore throats I just feel fatigue and then I'm back to normal after 3 or 4 days. However, these symptoms feel a little different. One day I did get stranded outside and the weather changed. Could this be related or do you feel like this may be something serious? I also consulted a doctor and they told me that my blood pressure was a little high. it was 156/94. No tightness in legs or abs. I have a slight cough and had an anxiety attack last night.
I spoke with a cardiologist and he thinks it might be GERD. My symptoms are worse in the morning but gets better throughout the day in between meals. I also have slight numbing sensation in the back of my head in the area where you would witness migraines. However, it doesn't not hurt just feels very weird.
If the issue is GERD, what would you recommend I do?

Hi XXXXXXX
I read carefully all your concerns and I can say as follows:
1.Ypur symptoms seems to be related with acid reflux disease.
This is why to my opinion you need to do upper endoscopy to better evaluate esophagus and gastric mucosa.
2. Meantime I would suggest to:
- avoid coffee and chocolate
- avoid smoking and alcohol
- eat often and small amount of meal
- eat 3-4 hours before meal
- use two pillows when you lay down
- increase physical activity
- try to loose weight if you are overweight
- avoid spicy and chilly foods
2. If your symptoms doesn't get improved that you should use antacids like Gaviscon and PPI like prilosec OTC.
Hope it was helpful to you!
