Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Alcohol Intoxication
Question: My brother-in-law drinks to the point of appearing to be in a stupor (staring up at the ceiling and looking as if he is seeing things when nothing is there) and in this state his arms will sometimes spontaneously rise and shake. Is this alcohol poisoning or some other condition that merits a trip to the ER. My niece says its very scary but her mother is not taking him to the ER because she says this happens every night. What advice should I give my worried niece??

Brief Answer:
consult doctor as early as possible.
Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concerns.
This is most probably the sign of alcohol intoxication.
An important condition which has to be ruled out is delirium.
Although this condition is more common in state of alcohol withdrawal, but still, this must be ruled out in case of your brother-in-law.
Delirium can cause permanent brain damage.
So my advise for you would be to get your brother-in-law examined by a doctor urgently. This will help to initiate treatment accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Thanks.
