Hi,
Thank you for posting the query.
I have gone through the question and understand your concern.
Pain on right back side of neck and painful, swollen hands can be caused due to partial or complete inflammation of the nerves in that region that may be the root cause of such kind of pain.
A possibility of a cervical disc prolapse should also be kept in mind.
There may be a compressed a nerve in the spine somewhere that might be causing radiating pain in the hands.
I suggest you get an Xray as well as an MRI of the cervical spine done to find out the exact cause.
Physiotherapy,analgesics,anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, tramadol should help till then.
Application of local analgesic sprays / gels followed by hot fomentation, can help
She can use a cervical soft collar for neck support.
Avoid pillows and lifting heavy weight.
Do get back to me after ur reports are ready.
I hope the answer was useful.
Thank you.
Kind regards.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
She seems to have an issue with the cervical discs from a long time. That may have been the reason for the surgery on second and third cervical vertebra.
But from the symptoms,it feels that the disc prolapse may be somewhere between 5th and 7th cervical vertebrae and not the 2nd or 3rd vertebra.
An MRI will help in immediate and pinpoint diagnosis.
Thank you
Thank you

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
Swelling can occur on one side or both sides, depending upon the extent of compression of the nerve on the affected side. More the compression, more the swelling occurs.
Swelling does seem to be due to cervical problem in her case. But such swellings can occur due to various other causes like deep vein thrombosis, blockages in lymphatic system, derangements in blood protein levels etc.
All these conditions need a detailed evaluation.
So,for the time being, give her the treatment which i had mentioned earlier.
If she doe not respond to the above treatment, then we can think of other options.
Thank you.
