Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Cold, Sore Throat And Cough
Question: Hi, my 9 month old son has had cold symptoms for 3 days; we have managed to control the temperature with paracetamol. It seemed for a time he had a sore throat / trouble swallowing. He also has a mucusy sounding cough. In the last 18-24 hours he has begun to lose his voice. Is this something we now need to bring him to the GP for?
Many thanks
Many thanks
Brief Answer:
For now NO!
Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for using HCM.
I am so sorry to hear about the cold symptoms that your son has. The change in his voice is no reason for consultation at this time. Sore throat and cold in children needs no antibiotics and treatment is making sure that the nostrils are always cleansed and controlling the fever with Tylenol. For now, continue and there is no need for a doctors visit as long as the child is playful, eats and breaths without difficulties and fever is controlled. He would feel better within a week.
I hope this helps. If you need more information, please do not hesitate to ask more questions and we would gladly address them. I wish your son well.
