Question: I have fluid somewhere in my ear. My hearing is fine but when I talk it sounds a bit muffled or loud in my own head. Not too painful but noticeable. My ENT has me on antibiotic but its been 4 days and no improvement. How can I get rid of this fluid?

Brief Answer:
You are most probably having fluid in ear due to eustachian tube blockage.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for the query.

I have read your query and understand your concern.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are most probably having fluid in middle ear due to eustachian tube blockage.

If I were your treating doctor , I would advice
Steam Inhalation twice daily,
Saline nasal spray thrice daily,
Antihistaminic levocetirizine at night &
anti inflammatory Ibuprofen twice daily .

Continue antibiotic.

You will need to see your doctor to get a prescription.

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
Regards.

Ok I will do that thank you. My ENT did a pressure test and said the pressure in my ears is normal, could there still be a blockage even if pressure is normal?

Brief Answer:
Most probably you are having mild eustachian tube blockage .

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for the follow up query.

I think you have done impedance test (pressure test) & it is within normal limit .

Most probably you are having mild eustachian tube blockage not affecting your hearing & pressure test .

Hope this information helpful to you .If you have any further questions I will be happy to help.
