Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Hypothyroidism
All they did was put me on levothyroxine at 112 MCG switched back to synthroid at 112mcg. I know it was not a good idea for me to stop taking my meds but they literally make me feel worse and I feel like there is no end to this. I literally gained 30 pounds in the last six months. And 30 pounds in six months before that while on my medication. I don't get it I can't find it endochronologist that will listen all they're telling me is that my levels are normal and there's nothing else wrong with me and that I need to stick to a diet. Which is crazy because I have a good diet and a very good physical fitness plan. I've been in the army for 16 years. I can't get an appointment with an endocrinologist until December 28. Is there anything else or anybody else I can talk to to try to get this fixed faster? Apparently there is a shortage of endocrinologist around here
If TSH is normal and symptoms persist, try to find other causes.
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I read carefully your concern.
There are too many patients like you, who have still symptoms of hypothyroidism even if TSH is corrected.
Once you have found the proper dose of synthroid ( which means normal TSH level) and the symptoms of hypothyroidism persist, you should discuss with your endocrinologists to try to find another cause for the symptoms for eg. Cushing syndrome.
There is no other treatment approved by FDA to treat hypothyroidism symptoms with normal TSH level. So your physician is right.
I would recommend to check cortisol level and electrolytes to rule out Cushing syndrome and take the synthroid regularly.
Hope i have been helpful.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
