provide more details

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX

Thanks for writing to us.

Normally an adult person requires total 6-8 hours of sleep per day.

Though you sleep late but if your total duration of sleep is normal and in daytime if you are active without any problem, no need to worry.

Possibility of Night owl person may be there. Just read following link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Night_owl_(person).

To get good sleep follow sleep hygiene. You can learn the same from following link.

sleepfoundation.org/ask-the-expert/sleep-hygiene

Drinking a cup of warm milk before going to bed helps in 30-40% of patients and they do not need medicines as per my clinical experience.

Let me know following details

- Since when are you facing such problem?

- What was sleep timing before?

- How many hours a day do you sleep?

- What is your work timing and is your altered sleep timing affecting your life?

I will be happy to help further after your response.

Regards,
Dr.Chintan Solanki.

Brief Answer:
follow sleep hygiene and if needed zolpidem can be useful

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thanks for information.

Your problem is just difficulty in initiation of sleep.

You can improve with sleep hygiene.

- take milk as I mentioned before.

- Take your dinner 2 hours before you go to sleep.

- Do not take heavy dinner.

- Walking for 15 minutes before half an hour to sleep may help.

- Avoid thrilling serials, movies or reading before sleeping.

- Avoid working before sleeping.

- Avoid XXXXXXX phone and interesting novels/reading before sleep.

- Use your bed for sleep only not for work

- take bath with warm water before sleep.

Even after above measures and other sleep hygiene your problem remains the same. You can consult doctor for taking medicine. Zolpidem is the drug of choice in such case which helps in initiation of sleep. You can stop drug gradually under doctor's guidance.

If still any query there, I will be happy to answer. If not, you can close the discussion and if feasible give your feedback and rating so I can improve my service. In future you can contact me directly on this site if you wish with this link:
