Suggest Treatment For Symptoms Of Urinary Tract Infection
Question: I have been diagnosed with a viral infection. However, I am also experiencing a urinary track infection.
I have treated this with Uristat which only deals with the symptoms. I am unable to go to the doctor today because of the holiday but do have Amoxicilian on hand. I took two pills this morning and have a supply to last me the day until I can get to the Doctor. Do you see any problem with that as long as I follow up tomorrow with a urine sample?

Brief Answer:
Urine microscopy findings may change
Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Welcome and thanks for your query.
When you take an antibiotic, the urine microscopy findings change and it may not show the signs of infection. Now that you have taken the medicine , it may be better to continue it even if the urine does not show changes of significant infection. Also if you are feeling better with the antibiotic, it may suggest a response to the same.
If the urine shows signs suggestive of a strong infection, you would require a urine culture to see if you have an organism resistant to Amoxicillin.
Take care
