Suggest Treatment For Syphilis
These antibiotics are not used to treat syphilis.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
I read carefully your query and understand your concerns.
Your situation is a little confusing .When you say "I might have Syphilis" you mean you only suspect you have syphilis or you know it for sure?
In order to start an antibiotic course to treat Syphilis we need to be sure you have this infection.
The only way we can be sure is to get tested for Syphilis.
Serologic testing is considered the standard method of detection for all stages of syphilis.
In suspected acquired syphilis, first perform nontreponemal serology screening using the Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL), rapid plasma reagin (RPR), or the recently developed ICE Syphilis recombinant antigen test.
If the test result is positive for Syphilis then you should start the treatment.
The treatment of choice is Penicillin .If you are allergic to penicillin then alternative treatments include : Doxycycline ,Tetracycline, erythromycin, Azithromycine .
The efficacy of alternative regimens is questionable in all stages of syphilis. Many treatment failures have been reported. For this reason we have to be absolutely sure for the penicillin allergy before choosing alternative antibiotics.
After the treatment is necessary to do follow-up VDRL test to see if the treatment was effective.
Bactrim and Augmentin are not used to treat Syphilis infection.
If you suspect you have Syphilis ,you should consult a physician and get the tests done to confirm this.
Hope it was of help.
Let me know if you have other questions or doubt to clarify.I will be happy to assist you further.
