Suggest Treatment For Tenderness In The Breasts During Menopause

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Jan 2017
Question: I was wondering if menopause can cause a hardening of breast tissue. I haven't had a menstrual cycle in four months and discovered this morning that my right breast was a little tender and the structure underneath had hardened significantly from what it used to be. My last mammogram was in XXXXXXX of this year and was clear although this same structure was there, but not as firm. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Get an FNAC

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing..
I understand your concern..

Since you dont have mensus for 4 months it is likely to be menopause.. For confirmation get a FSH blood test.. If high confirmed to be postmenopausal..

Postmenopausal periods breast getting firmer and calcification of old small mass is common.. So the firm consistency could be due to that.. Also you had a mammogram which was normal 6 months back.. But for confirmation it is better to get FNAC of the mass which further confirms its benign nature.. In case any abnormal tissue found, early intervention can be done.

Hope i have answered your query. Feel free to ask any doubts.. Good day..
