Suggest Treatment For Testicular Atrophy

default
Posted on Tue, 17 Mar 2015
Question: I'm concerned because it appears that my testicles have atrophied, there is now excess skin hanging from my
scrotum . I'm 49 years old and was diagnosed with low testosterone and prescribed axiron, I've discontinued using it but there is no change in my testicles/ scrotum, this is very disturbing to me. I'm concerned that this maybe something more serious than aging.

Brief Answer:
generally no serious concerns; prefer to evaluate you.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Welcome to Healthcaremagic
Greetings of the day
Dear Sir

Scrotal skin is full of rugosity (skin folds ), when they open up the surface area of scrotum appears to increase leading to apparent increase in scrotal size. Any increase in scrotal surface does not always imply atrophy of underlying testis. There is definitely fall in testosterone levels with rise in age.

I would suggest you the following

1. Thorough clinical examination from your Physician to look for testis size , sensation or any abnormality

2. Scrotal Ultrasound and color Doppler scan

If both the above are normal then there is no cause for concern.

Do get back to me if you need any further assistance will be glad to assist you.

Take care
