Suggest Treatment For Tightness Around The Chest

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Aug 2015
Question: Today I felt a tightness around my chest, it lasted for about 30 seconds then my arms felt briefly heavy. This feeling happened once before about 3 years ago, I ignored it. At the time I was stressed out walking my dogs. today I was at work walking around. I was not stressed out today. I had worked out yesterday and my muscles are sore today. I am 58, female, healthy, active, non smoker. 2 of my grandparents died of heart attacks when they were 60. Both my parents are still alive and in their mid eighties. I am not taking any prescription medications. Should I see a doctor or is this nothing to worry about?

Brief Answer:
Anginal pain

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The pain that you are describing is very typical of anginal pain ( pain coming from the heart). With the strong family history it is very possible that your artries are clogged and there could be an impending heart attack. Here is what you should do

1. Please get a ECG and an ECHO as soon as possible
2. Do not engage is physical activities or travel until you are evaluated
3. Keep your meals light and do not consume heavy meals
4. Please see a GP soon

I hope I was of help, if you have any further queries please get back to me
