Suggest Treatment For Tinnitus In A Hypertensive Person

Question: Recently i have been able to hear a coursing blood sound in my left ear. It occurs in my left ear only and particularly when i lie down to go to sleep, but also other times when i feel flushed or that blood has gone to my head. Is this something I should get investigated? Thanksam 49 6'1" 180 lbs with no health issues and on no medication. I quit what had been once a month binge drinking, and havent had alcohol for 2 months. I do not get exercise but am walking or riding the bike for 30-45 min everyday. Am slightly more fatigued than before, though my work schedule 9am-1am with a few hours break does no favors. Thanks!

Hi and thank you for asking!
I read your query and understood your concerns.
What you are experiencing most likely is associated with hypertension (high blood pressure) or inner ear issues.
If you were my patients I would recommend to do the following examinations to find out what is causing your symptoms:
- Blood work
- Ecg
- Cardiac echo
- Audiogram
Hope this will be of help!
Wish you health!

I wasnt actually wondering what my doctor should do if i choose to go. Was wondering more what level of urgency I should apply to this issue. Is it a common occurrence? Does it portend something very serious in a high percentage of cases? Or is it just something that could be nothing in most cases. Thanks

Hi back,
It's not a life threatening situations in most of the cases and you shouldn't worry to much.
However it would be wise from you to schedule for above mentioned examinations. This will help to diagnose and prevent in advance any problems in the future.
