Question: My mother whose age is around 60 has diabetic and is now a days having problems with blurred vision and double vision. i could see some white area in her retina top edge.She always feels very tired , not able to eat enough and weak.I am attaching her reports so that you see what tablets she is having and suggest why this is happening and what can be done.If you could help with diet plan that would also be of help.Should she show to an eye specialist or wait for her sugar levels to be in control and then show to eye specialist ?

1. Her sugar levels are high at present. Even on anti-diabetic medication, diabetic neuropathy will progress. Hence she needs to be examined by an eye specialist and a diabetologist.

2. The white area that you are seeing may be normal ageing spots, corneal opacity or diabetic changes. This will be diagnosed on direct examination.

3. As her sugar levels are controlled, the other symptoms such as tiredness, weakness and loss of appetite will reduce.
