Suggest Treatment For Tonsillitis Infection
Question: Due to tonsillitis around 3 weeks back i took 4 tablets of Azithral 500mg for two days and got recovered but again since yesterday i am again having the tonsillitis problem so i have again took one tablet of AZITHRAL 500mg. Could you please advice is it the right line of treatment as i am having very often tonsillitis infection and what are the side effects of taking AZITHRAL500mg frequently. Am i suppose to take it again 4 tablets for 2 days as i had already taken 4 tablets 3 weeks back.

After reading your clinical history it appears that you are having chronic tonsillitis .
If I were your treating Doctor for this case, I would advice you
Antibiotic AZITHRAL 500mg once in morning empty stomach /day for 5 days,
Antiseptic chlorhexidine Mouth Wash twice daily like triguard ,
Plenty of fluids ,
Paracetamol 650mg after meal for pain like tab Dolo 650mg &
Tab Vitamin C like Tab limcee twice daily to promote healing for 5 days .
Take complete treatment plan to get early relief .
Very less side effect with Azithral 500mg at this dose. At high dose stomach disturbance & pain.
If tonsillitis is occurring frequently , consider for tonsillectomy .

As you have prescribed AZITHRAL 500mg empty stomach for 5 day, would there be any issues while taking it empty stomach.
Also please reply with details like why it occurred again after taking the medicine for 3 weeks back? Was the complete course not done at that time therefore it occurred again, am i suppose to take now one tablet 24 hourly for 5 days empty stomach.

Tab Azithral should be taken before meal as bioavailability in blood become increase & should be taken one/day as half life of drug is more than 24 hours.
At this dose there should be no issues , if stomach disturbance occurs use tab Rantac .
If you have chronic tonsillitis with white spot on tonsils then antibiotic will help temporary . You need to use Mouth Wash regularly till infection inside the tonsil gone completely or consider for tonsillectomy if throat problem is recurring frequently .
