Suggest Treatment For Tooth Decay While Suffering From Bruxism

default
Posted on Tue, 28 Jul 2015
Question: I have been long suffering from bruxism caused protracted use of Geodon. I have been off Geodon for at least a couple of years, but the bruxism continues unabated. My wife is rigging up an over-the-counter teeth guard for nighttime bruxism. I haven't slightest Idea whether or not I grind my teeth at night. But bruxism is unceasing during my waking ours--it's pretty much my only exercise program. My teeth are in bad shape (but not from tooth decay); their surfaces are very rough and grainy. Any advice you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you so, so much! I am deeply appreciative of your concern and counsel.

Brief Answer:
BRUXISM, NIGHT GUARD, MUSCLE RELAXNT, ENAMELOPLASTY

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
As far as the bruxism is concerned, this can occur secondary to many causes like stress, anxiety, drugs that are used to treat bipolar disorders. Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. You can get a fremitus test done to confirm the diagnosis. If you have bruxism, then you can use splints like biostar night guard to prevent damage to the jaw joints(TMJ). Along with that you can use a muscle relaxant like chlorzoxazone if you have any pain and limited mouth opening. You need to be cool and relaxed, do not take tension, lead a stress free life.
Regarding the grainy surface over the teeth is concerned, this can be secondary to grinding of the teeth. This has resulted in wearing away of tooth structure resulting in sharp teeth, Get these teeth smoothened or enameloplasty done.
I hope I have answered your query, if any queries are there, reply me back.
Take care.
