Suggest Treatment For Torn Meniscus
Steroid injection in the knee, Yoga, lifestyle modification
Detailed Answer:
Hi there.
Thanks for the query.
Usually knee arthritis is also accompanied by degeneration of the meniscus cartilage.
Arthroscopic knee debridement would clean up the joint and remove the degenerated portion of the meniscus.
Since Total knee replacement will be needed soon, got can go for other conservative therapy like Intra-articular steroid injection which will offer relief for upto 6 months. The long acting steroid will be injected into the knee joint.
Physiotherapy to increase the strength of the muscles around the knee and quadriceps and Hamstring muscle strengthening will also be beneficial. Avoid squatting, cross leg sitting, climbing stairs, kneeling. Do static cycling or swimming to keep fit and avoid obesity.
Avoid taking Alleve. You can take Glucosamine and Chondroitin tablets one a day which so help to regenerate the damaged cartilage. Take Tylenol 1000mg twice a day for better relief. It is safer than the other medication. Also do try Yoga which offers great benefit.
I hope I have answered your query.
I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
