Suggest Treatment For Torn Swollen Calf Muscle
Question: I was exercising a few days ago and think j pulled or tore something in my calf. It is swollen and cab hardly put pressure on it to walk. Should i go to the dr
Hello,
you should definitely go to an orthopaedic surgeon because calf injuries can be more severe and need different treatment depending on whether it's pulled or totally ruptured. Inability to walk and severe swelling may mean just that.
Kind Regards!

Thank you for your answer. I went to the doctor they put a splint on it and told me to stay off it for a few days. It is the upper muscle that I injured but I am now spilling as my muscles are looping in tying knots what do you think that can be. Is that just the blood flowing to the area. I am in the most pain during the night couldn't that be too because I am not moving it.
Brief Answer:

Detailed Answer:
Hello
I have studied your case.
There is possibility of retraction of torn muscle leading swelling and pain.
If pain is persistent then you need to consult your doctor to re check splint or you may need longer splint.
If muscle is in healing stage then physiotherapy like ultrasound and matrix therapy may help you.
MRI and colour doppler may help to diagnose severity of tear.
Rest should not lead increase in pain.
I hope I have answered your questions. If you have further questions please feel free to contact us. I will be happy to answer. Take care.

Thank you. The docter said i tore the muscle in my calf but he didnt Mri or ultrasound it. My calf is still swollen and am unable to bare my weight on it. Are they waiting for the swelling to go down?
Brief Answer:
No need to wait for reduction of swelling for doing investigation.
Detailed Answer:
Hello again,
After clinical examination they might have found partial tear, so might not have advised further investigation.
But if swelling is persistent then you should consult again for further investigation.
No need to wait for reduction of swelling for doing investigation.
