Posted on Mon, 25 Jan 2016
Question: I have been suffering from muscle twitching mainly in my caffs for over a year now. I have been to my normal family doctor and he sent ne to a Neurologist and he conducted a EMG nothing came of it. No one i ask knows what it could be. Its so bad now i cant sleep well anymore. I have two videos of a normal night of twitching of both legs. The videos were taken today and they are about half as bad as they get.

Brief Answer:
Needs spine and brain evaluation. Restless leg syndrome

Detailed Answer:
Hi there.

This could be a problem in the spine or brain.

It is best to get examined for the same to look for nerve compression.

Another diagnosis to be considered is Restless legs syndrome such is usually associated with low body iron levels. This causes frequent jerking of the legs even in sleep and an uncomfortable sensation in the legs which requires you to jerk the legs for relief.

You could request for a spine MRI to look for spine issues if you have back pain or a head CT if you have headaches, seizures.

You may take Tablet Levocarnitine one tablet one a day after meals. This increases the muscles functioning and can help prevent cramps or Jerusalem.

I hope I have answered your query.

I will be available to answer your follow up queries.
