Suggest Treatment For Umbilical Hernia
Question: I just noticed that the area around my navel has been slowly bulging. I lost 35 lbs in the past 2 years and gained back 10. This bulge above my navel has slowly dvloped over 3 months. It looks like 2 adjoined lumps, one a little larger. Together 1 1/2 wide and about 1/2 vertically. Feels "funny" when I push, like a soft balloon. I suspect hernia, what should I do.?.?
Brief Answer:
Umbilical hernia.
Detailed Answer:
Hello!
Thank you for the query.
Can you please attach a photo of it?
From your description this is an umbilical hernia indeed. It may be more visible when standing and coughing and less visible when lying down.
The first thing you should do, is to consult general surgeon. He should perform physical examination. Usually this is enough to diagnose it.
If it hurts, should be operated. If it does not bother you, can be left alone for some time. However it may be constantly larger.
Hope this will help. Feel free to ask further questions.
Regards.
