Question: My companion recently saw our doctor for upper respiratory infection with cough, runny nose. Those symptoms are improving, but now for the last two days she sleeps all day and all night. She gets up for meals and then doses off and returns to bed. Is this normal recovery for some people or should I be concerned about this? Thank you in advance for your advice

Brief Answer:
No. This is not normal.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

1. No. This is not normal.

2. The drowsiness and sedation should be reported immediately to your doctor.

3. This is most likely to be a side effect of her medication, especially codeine. Fatigue can also be a sign of the illness.
