Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have read your query & understand your concern. I am Dr. Arun Tank & I am infectious disease specialist. I am going to handle your query.
- Before I discuss your problem I want to tell you something about Ureaplasma. Ureaplasma and Mycoplasma are two organism that are sometimes found as commensal flora of the human being and sometimes also as pathogenic organisms. Commensal flora is a natural, non-pathogenic bacteria that are present on the skin and mucus membrane of the humans.
- Now coming to your query ureaplasma and mycoplasma are present in the genital flora of sexually active women. It may be silent in some and pathogenic in some. E.g. In your case may be it is silent in you and active in your partner.
-It is not necessary that your partner had received it from another partner. How come they are coming in sexually active person is not known. So do not put it in your mind that your partner is active with other partner and so he/she had this infection.
-I advice you should think of how to treat the ureaplasma infection. I think you should discuss about doxycycline with your treating doctor. I also advice that both of you should be treated simultaneously. Also wear condom while doing sex, this will help both of you from getting cross infection. Maintain the local hygiene it is a most important part I can say.
