Question: Hi, thank you for being available.
My father-in-law is 91, good health except for urination every hour. Tried several types of meds, a ton of naturals as well. Is he too old for surgery or is there another approach?

Brief Answer:
Sergery would be better option .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts that you have posted it appears that your father in law is facing problem of frequent urination and has been diagnosed to have Benign Enlargement of Prostate .

I shall be happy if you can post me few more details to help me in making comments on your problem.
1) Has he been investigated or evaluated as regards fitness for surgery and anesthesia ?
2) Have you consulted Urologist very recently ?
3) What is the size of the prostate and post void residual urine volume reported on Ultrasound scanning ?

The medicines that he has been prescribed since long time will no more longer to help to relieve his voiding and storage urinary symptoms

I would suggest you to go for surgery provided he is in a good state of health with his all parameters like cardiac and pulmonary status are reasonably normal and if he is fit to undergo endoscopic surgery(TURP) This will help to improve his quality of life .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions ,I shall be happy to help you
Thanks and Regards.
