Suggest Treatment For Urine Infection And Fever During Pregnancy
Question: My sister is suffering from urine infection and fever also she is 14 weeks pregnant.what precautions should we take?

Hi XXXX,I have gone through your question and understand your concerns. Urinary tract infection in any trimester in pregnancy should be actively and promptly treated as it may lead to preterm labour and delivery, and intrauterine growth restriction in the fetus.
She should get her urine tests including urine routine and microscopy , and urine culture and sensitivity done and get appropriate antibiotic treatment. She should drink plenty of fluids including water. She can also take syrup alkaliser 2 teaspoonful 2 times a day with one glass of water for seven days.For fever, she should take paracetamol tablet. All this should be taken under the prescription of a doctor. She should drink at least 3 litres of fluids daily throughout pregnancy to prevent further episodes of UTI.
