Posted on Mon, 1 Dec 2014
Question: I was currently diagnosed with having two bad bacteria in my vagina and was prescribed some medication, Tarivid, metrolag, also another blue pill I forgot the name of it but it started with a D. It was suppose to be taken after the 7 day medication of the other two. But as I was taking the other two my discharge was normal, creamy white. But as soon as i took the blue pill it went brown. Any reason for this or how I can get it back to normal

Brief Answer:
Old endometrial tissue or effect of pill.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for writing to us.

You should take prescribed medication according to doctor's direction to reduce bacterial infection and vaginal discharge.

Brown discharge may be due to effect of the pill or old endometrial tissue. Just maintain genital hygiene properly and it will overcome within 2-3 days.

You should follow some BASIC preventive measures to improve the condition:

1) Use vaginal moisturizer cream like RepHresh pH gel or VAGISIL cream to avoid repeated infection and maintain vaginal pH.

2) Wear only clean and cotton clothes. Don't wear any tight fitting clothes or underwear to avoid repeated friction/ irritation. Take sound sleep adequately.

3) Take healthy diet with anti oxidant (like Vitamin -E or C, Selenium, Zinc etc) supplements. Drink plenty of water or juice for better systemic circulation. You must LIMIT salty/ sugary/ fatty foods.

4) Avoid chemical cosmetics, perfume or scented bath products around genital area. Keep the area mostly dry. You should avoid unprotected intercourse with chemical lubricant until problem is resolved completely.

Hope, it helps for your information. Kindly, close the discussion if you don't have any other query.

Wish your good health and take care yourself.

Brief Answer:
difficult to predict the pill based on color alone.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Frankly, it is quite difficult to predict the name of the pill based on color alone. Probability that this could be an antibiotic is high; however I might be wrong too. If you the prescription, please upload it on this page and I shall try to assist you. Else you have to talk to the doctor who prescribed that.

the pill is Diflucan

Brief Answer:
Anti-fungal medication has minimal effect.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thanks for confirmation.

DIFLUCAN contains fluconazole as composition. It is an anti-fungal (antibiotic) medication. It is usually taken once in a week or as prescribed by doctor.

Old endometrial tissue, pelvic or vaginal infection, stress or anxiety, hormonal ups and downs are mostly related with brownish discharge. Diflucan has minimal effect on this. Maintain your genital hygiene and follow previous advices.

All the best and good luck. Kindly, close the discussion.
