Suggest Treatment For Vertigo, Dizziness And Disturbed Vision

default
Posted on Sat, 11 Oct 2014
Question: Dear Sir/ Madam,

I unknowingly ingested MDMA around 6 weeks ago and am still suffering from disturbed vision, confusion, dizziness and vertigo ( feeling like something is actually pulling my brain downwards ).

It appears that my symptoms are physiological rather psychological as i am otherwise in a good state of mind.

Please could you offer some advice for treatment ?

Many thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Symptomatic treatment would help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms and would like to reassure you that you would improve over time without any severe health hazards.

As of now, you can take symptomatic treatment, such as betahistine tablets to relive the dizziness and vertigo.

Also, sleep well for about 7-8 hours per night and take food on time. Vitamin B12 supplements would also help you recover faster.

I hope my reply has helped you.

I would be pleased to answer, if you have any follow up queries or if you require any further information.

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Many thanks for your prompt response and I feel somewhat relieved to hear that I will not suffer any long- term consequences.

Regarding the Diazepam and Flunarizine Hydrochloride- should I not take these again ? Was i incorrectly prescribed these ?

Also I read that serotonin levels can be affected by taking too much MDMA in a single dosage- should taking a supplement/ medication be of any benefit in this case please ?

Lastly, the symptoms I described have also been experienced ( previous to the MDMA issue ) the day after I consume alcohol although to a lesser degree. I would not say this due to dehydration as i consume enough water on a daily basis. Could there perhaps be some other underlying medical issue I should have checked please ?

Thank you again in advance.

Brief Answer:
It is possible that you have a migraine tendency

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for getting back.

I would not say that medications you took were incorrect. However, please avoid diazepam in future.

Flunarizine is used for treating migraine, and some of your symptoms are suggestive of a migraine tendency. So, you may take this medication under medical supervision.

You do not require serotonin altering medications now after 6 weeks of taking MDMA.

Best wishes,

Dear Dr. XXXXXXX

Thank you for your reply.

My final questions please- how long should it take for me to feel the benefit of the Betahistine ( some sources say 2 weeks ) and B12 ? And how long should I keep taking the Betahistine ?

Is there some way I can contact you directly for a follow up at some point please ?- i realise this would be treated as a separate consultation.

Many thanks again.

Thank you for getting back.

It could take four to six weeks to feel the benefit of betahistine.
