Suggest Treatment For Viral Diarrhea
Question: My husband has had diarrhea for almost five days. No pain, no blood---he is 82 and has Parkinson's and a spine injury that keeps him from standing. He is in assisted living and they are worried about how long this has been. Should he see a doctor? Or can we wait a few more days. YYYY@YYYY

Brief Answer:
Semms to be a viral diarrhea.
Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM. I am Dr Anshul Varshney.
I understand your concern.
This seems to be a Viral Diarrhea.
It usually resolves on it's own.
We just give Probiotics for it and maintain hydration by giving Oral Re hydration Solution (ORS).
However, in old age with multiple disabilities, it is always better to see a doctor as if severe it can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalances that can complicate the matter.
Take a medical help.
Till then start him on Probiotics and ORS.
I hope it helps.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
Stay Healthy.
