Question :
Glaucoma has damaged the optic nerve to the extent that my wife's vision is severely impaired. Is there such a thing as an optic nerve implant ? and would that have the possibility of restoring some vision? Thank you, XXXXXXX K Goodman

Brief Answer:
transorbital alternating current stimulation

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX
It had long been thought that damage to the optic nerves lead to permanent impairments in everyday activities such as reading, driving, and spatial orientation. But a new method treating such patients with low levels of non-invasive, repetitive, transorbital alternating current stimulation (rtACS) for 10 days (30-40 min per day) significantly reduces visual impairment and markedly improves vision related quality of life.
Hope i have answered your query

DR De
