Suggest Treatment For Vision Problems And Neck Pain

Question: Hi, I am having a problem with my vision and balance. It's a big problem when I'm driving. I always feel like I can't focus and I feel like I try to move my eyes around to try to focus. I have lower neck pain every day. It seems the vision is worse when the pain in my neck is bad. Also when I'm tired it seems to be worse. If I'm at home sitting and watching tv', it's not to bad and I feel like I can focus and actually see. But 90% of the time driving, I'm never able to focus or be able to feel comfortable seeing. I've had MRI and cat scans, nothing was found wrong. Been to a chiropractor and a massage therapist and it would temporarily ease the pain, but the vision and balance were the same. Went to a balance specialist and did a test, she said my balance is off and suggested physical therapy. The main concern that I have is the vision problem while driving. I feel it has something to do with my neck pain, but nobody can figure it out. I feel that it was vertigo or tunnel vision. PLEASE help with my condition, any more questions you need answered let me know. Thanks..... XXXXXXX

Also I was in a snowmobile accident a long time ago. Chiropractor says I am starting to get arthritis in my neck. If that helps out at all. This all came about when I was painting downstairs about 5 yrs ago and had a stiff neck.

Brief Answer:
These symptoms are probably of cervical cord problems.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

I am Dr. Dadapeer K, an ophthalmologist and I answer health problems related to eye.

I reviewed history and it seems from the history that you are having problem with balance and focussing the eyes while moving associated with neck pain.

These symptoms indicate vertigo.

The common causes which needs to be ruled out is problems involving the cervical cord in the neck like arthritis, disc prolapse.... These problems cause balance problems associated with neck pain. Since you are having neck pain also along with balance problems this appears to be the probable cause. This needs examination by a neurologist or by a orthopedician for confirmation of diagnosis. The treatment is by physiotherapy and treatment of the underlying cause.

Hence I advice to consult doctor for examination to confirm the diagnosis and treatment accordingly.

Hope this is helpful to you.
Do write back to me for further questions.

Thank you
