Suggest Treatment For Vomiting, Ringing Ears And Sternum Pain After Accidentally Eating Gluten

default
Posted on Wed, 3 Jun 2015
Question: I have been suffering from accidentally eating gluten on Saturday. I have Hashimoto's and have been gluten-free since January, per suggestion by my endocrinologist. It has made a world of difference as far as inflammation, rashes, flushing, and nerve issues are concerned. However, it seems as though whenever I am inadvertently glutened now, it is 10X worse than it ever was in the past. I've been vomiting, nauseous, have itching/burning/ringing ears, and am experiencing severe, radiating pain around my sternum/ribs. I've had horrible insomnia and am literally exhausted this week while teaching. ANY SUGGESTIONS to get over the symptoms more quickly? Is this common? XXXXXXX Lorenz

Brief Answer:
Multi disciplinary approach

Detailed Answer:
Good day,
Noted your concern. Sorry to hear about your symptoms. Infact, you need a multdisciplined approach. A team work of an immunoloist/Rheumatologist, a gastroeterologist/Endocriologist/Dietician/Social worker/Psychologist. This team approach is very important when we deal with this kind of issues.

You may need to establish the celiac disease diagnosis first by doing an endoscopy and biospy. You may also need blood works like Total IGA and TTG IGA and an 8 AM serum cortisol levels.

Would like to know about your CBC and last thyroid blood works. You may also need a Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 blood levels.

Binu

Hello!

Thanks for your response. When I get home from teaching today, can I please upload some of my test results/labs? Since I've been gluten-free since January, my understanding is that a diagnosis of Celiac Disease would be difficult to attain, and particularly because of my low IGG levels/results. However, considering the fact that I've had chronic sores in my mouth since I was a baby, lots of rashes/hives in response to food/allergens, tons of GI issues (always deemed as diverticulitis or colitis), chronic ear infections/burning/ringing, insomnia, joint pain and inflammation, and major nerve issues and Reynaud's, etc...I'm pretty sure I have it. I've realized that gluten literally poisons me and puts me out of commission. They had me on Glumetza/Metformin for three years stating that I was pre-diabetic, however, the new endocrinologist says that is crazy given my most recent lab results...and took me off of it. I am only 4'10, weigh 102 lbs, but three years ago when I started having tons of rashes, flushing, and swelling of my glands/ears, they said I was pre-diabetic and put me on meds for it. Since then, it's been a whirlwind/downhill spiral of one med after the next, BUT NO ANSWERS!!
