Suggest Treatment For Wart Like Mass On The Palm Of The Hand

Question: Hi Doctor Rynne,
I am a female 26 years old. I am approximately 250 lbs and 5 feet 4 inches. I have one son 14 months. I have an on going issue in my left palm up to my lower arm. The symptoms are a large wart like mass in my palm of my hand, and a red line that is creeping up into my lower arm/forearm. I had warts when I was younger [ junior high age ] they were usually removed by freezing them off. This condition seems to go dormant over time. I have been given the following prescriptions for this condition by my M.D. and a dermatologist ; Augmentin, betamethasone, and dipropionate. They just seem to mask the issue for a while [ a few months ] and then come back without any notable reason. My hands do tend to sweat more than the average person, even before I became over weight. The pain in my palm is pretty painful and the pain in my forearm is tender. Ice seems to ease the pain, but is temporary. My doctors have not given my a diagnosis after several years of this condition. I am concerned that the red line seems to continue creeping up my arm and is getting more tender as it goes. I am also concerned that it may be contagious to my young son.

Brief Answer:
Get examined by a Surgeon or send us a Photo.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
This could be a Venous or Lymphatic malformation.
Cannot comment without examining it.
I suggest you show it to a Surgeon or send us a picture of the hand and forearm so that I can get better information about the problem.
It is most likely an inflammatory process which has a waxing and waning course but would need to see it before giving a firm opinion. Other alternative is to consult a Surgeon who can examine it and let you know what it is likely to be.
Do let us know if there are other queries on this issue that we can resolve.
Take care,

Brief Answer:
It looks like an infected boil.

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
It seems to be a small boil or insect bite with underlying infection.
The redness spreading upwards which is barely visible is Lymphangitis.
I do not think you need to worry.
It will not spread to your child.
You would need a course of antibiotics and you should consult your GP for the same.
I usually prescribe a course Tab Augmentin 1gm twice a day and Tab Tinidazole 500mg twice a day along with Tab Combiflam twice a day for 5 days.
apply warm compresses over the lesion which would comfort you.
Take care and do let me know if there are other queries on this issue.
