Suggest Treatment For Weakness, Nausea And Vomiting
Question: I am 69 years old, female, 4' 10", 105 lbs. and have been in excellent health all of my life. I have been married 47 years and have 3 very healthy children. In the past 2 weeks, I have been experiencing flu-like symptoms: nausea, vomiting and weakness. This, in turn, has caused no appetite. I have been trying to keep down energy drinks (Ensure, Emergen-C). Eventually, though, I throw up white foamy liquid. It seems as though the vomit doesn't come from my stomach because it's always white and foamy. Anything I have put in my stomach doesn't come up. The last time I remember having the flu was over 50 years ago and it didn't seem to last this long. I realize, at my age, that my immune system isn't as strong and viruses can take longer to fight. At this stage of my illness, I'm not feeling the nausea as bad but, can only eat a very small portion. I'm left feeling very weak and the feeling of having to throw up goes away as soon as I burp. I can feel myself getting better, slowly. Do you think I should go see a doctor? Thank you, XXXX
Brief Answer:
Take high fiber diet. Take Cap Omeprazole 40 mg once daily before breakfast.
Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
With increase in age the immunity levels gradually come down. Such illnesses are commonplace and usually recover soon. Since you feel that you are gradually getting better you may wait some more but if it does not resolve in another week or so, then I think it would be a good idea to see a doctor.
On the other hand if things improve own its own in the meantime, there is no further need anyway.
Let me know if I could help further.
