Suggest Treatment For White Spot On Chin In An Infant
Question: My daughter 9 month old developed white spot below lips on the chin due to excess saliva. What is possible treatment in XXXXXXX
Brief Answer:
irritant mild contact dermatitis
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns but don't worry. The most likely cause of such spot is due to mild irritant contact dermatitis. It can be easily treated by twice daily application of mild steroid such as desowen for 1-2 weeks. Also use a good moisturizing lotion such as cetaphil on the affected area (an hour after desowen application).
You may continue with cetaphil but stop desowen after lesions improve. If the lesion do not improve even after 4 weeks than visit a dermatologist for further course of action.
These medicines are easily available through out XXXXXXX

What will be the treatment to control excessive saliva
Brief Answer:
No need to be treated
Detailed Answer:
Hi
Excess salivation can occur in babies due to teething at this age. We do not recommend any treatment for it.
In case the baby is not growing well, lagging in developmental milestones or his thyroid status is not checked then a thyroid profile esp. TSH and free T3/T4 will be useful along with complete development assessment.
