Question: I took levoquin for 10 days for pneumonia and a UTI and have been off for 10 days and can barely walk because my Achilles tendon is so inflamed and soe. Also my right knee and leg are sore and the knee swollen. About 10 years ago my Achilles tendon was torn almost in to, but healed with treatment. Now it hurts like when I tore it. My knee had a torn ligament in May and I went to therapy and it was so much better. Now that knee is swollen and. What can I do. How long to the effects of this wear off. It seems I ache all over.

Brief Answer:
I do not think that this is due to Levoquin

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have studied your case and I do not think Levoquin has caused this. Usually ankle or knee pain can be due to some drugs but it can be due to post viral infection also. As you said that you had injury in past so there is chances of non healing of those injuries also there. Side effect of medicines does not start so late, and also it does not stays ten days after stopping drugs.
My suggestion is that you should take Etoricoxib 90 mg per day. Also if there is continuous increase in pain then there is no harm in visiting a bone specialist. He may advised you to go blood tests like ESR, CRP to check for post viral arthralgia. If it is positive then you need to take HCQ for one month.
I hope this answer will be useful for you. Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks

The pain started immediately after I finished the drug and has continued ever since. Everything I have read says this us the side effect from this drug. My injuries were in the past not now. So, I still believe it is from the levaquin. Is there anything I can do besides nsaids? I do not need an orthopedic doctor, I saw one for each of the injuries and they released me.

Brief Answer:
You can take supportive treatment

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Every drug can cause joint pain so if you will search internet then you can find this. But my suggestion is that you keep a watch on your symptoms. Take NSAID but if you feel that other joints are getting involved then you need to get blood tests. Till then continue with medicines liem Brufen or Etoricoxib one daily.
I hope these steps will be helpful for you.Let me know if there is any other followup questions.
thanks
