Brief Answer:
Knee being XXXXXXX decelerates wound healing.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX ! Good evening. I am Dr Shareef answering your query.

The wound on the knee takes longer time to heal than usual as the knee is the part of body which never gets rest in an ambulatory man and every time the wound tries to contract and heal, it gets opened up on bending the knee. However, it is not that the wound would not heal, but it might take a longer duration.

I am not aware of your profession. If your job entails too much mobility, it might take more than usual time for the wound to heal. If it is possible, try to give rest to your knee for some days, and this would help in accelerating the wound healing process. Along with it, a broad spectrum systemic antibiotic could also help apart from proper antiseptic dressings. I am sure, you must have been immunised against Tetanus properly.

I hope this information would help you in discussing with your family physician/treating doctor in further management of your problem. Please do not hesitate to ask in case of any further doubts.

Thanks for choosing health care magic to clear doubts on your health problems. Wishing you an early recovery. Dr Shareef.
