Brief Answer: Hair loss and dandruff, long term treatment Detailed Answer: Hi I understand your concern regarding your skin problem and I hope I am able to help you in the same . Now your main problem is that of androgenic alopecia . Since you are in grade two to three, so we do have gone chances to control further hair loss and also regain hair growth to some extent. You have been righty prescribed the medicines for your problem. Minoxidil is the mainstay of treatment for your problem. But you need to know that you might even need lifelong application of the same. It is the most effective drug for your problem at present but the main issue is with its application which has to be continued for very long. Mintop five percent should be good for you. Apply one ml twice a day over the affected areas . As far as the intake of tablets are concerned, it has been largely found to be free of any major side effects in my clinical experience. Yes, you do come across various side effects when you look for it on net, but we as dermatologist use it quite often and our patients do not have any major problems with its intake. But if you are very bothered about the same, you can discuss it with your treating doctor and omit it. The shampoo that you have been prescribed is an anti dandruff shampoo and is a very effective one. Hope it helps Please ask if you need any further clarifications Dr Geetika Paul

Dr. Thanx for the above answer! 1-Is minoxidil applied for a lifelong stopped balding?some sites says that it works best between 5 months-2 years, then the effectiveness of minoxidil decreases & get wear off after some years? 2-I have also seen online that androanagen tab. works as same as finasteride with no side effects at all?can I take that? 3-finasteride or androanagen, for how much long tab. should be taken? 4-Is mesotherapy or stem cell also helps in hair regrowth? 5-Or any other treatment according to you that increases density as well also results in hair regroth? 6-what is good diet for healthy hair?

Brief Answer: Treatment line for androgenic alopecia Detailed Answer: Hi again Minoxidil, for sure , needs a very long term application . It is true that it's maximum effect is seen in the initial few years but then it's application has to be continued even later so as to maintain the hair regrowth. Androanagen tablet are also effective in your problem and since they contain all natural ingredients , they are largely devoid of side effects. But these also have to be continued for months or years according to the response seen in the patient. As far as the other treatment options are concerned, I usually recommend finasteride with minoxidil application in my patients with early hair loss. In those with advanced stage hair loss, hair transplantation is advised. You can also take oral biotin tablets 10 mg daily . Diet does not have much role in your problem. Dr Geetika Paul

Brief Answer: Application of topical minoxidil Detailed Answer: Hi again There is some degree of an initial hair fall which is seen on starting usage of minoxidil . However this is basically due to the hair follicle growth cycle. It may take upto three to four months of application of minoxidil to see a noticable difference in the hair growth. One should not be worried by the initial hair fall since it denotes that the hair follicle will enter a new growth phase with thicker hair. As far as foam or solutions of minoxidil are concerned, there is not much difference in their efficacy . The only thing is that liquid formulation can cause slight irritation in some people which foam formulation is devoid of this side effect. You might need to apply minoxidil lifelong to prevent any further progress of hair fall. Stoppage of its application might cause loss of regained hair. Hope it helps Please ask if you need any further clarifications Dr Geetika Paul
