my 19 year has had pcos from the last five years. the hormonal tablets were too harsh on her so she is on homeopathy. Last year she was detected with hypo thyroidism. she is on 75 microgms and now with the help of homeo she has been getting her period once in 6 to 10 weeks. Right now she is over 70 days and is very uncomfortable. Mly homeopath says it is a good idea to give her metadoze 500mg. Will it ieasen her thigh pains and stomach crams and actually help her mensturate. She has her finals coming up in 8 days, she is wondering if she should start the new drug Metadoze or go thru the discomfort of being in pain and being depressed for right now and not mess her exams. please advise

Hi,
PCOD is an ovulation problem causing irregular periods. Her low thyroid issue also leads to hormonal imbalance and irregular periods. Metadoze is a Metformin preparation correcting insulin resistance as a cause of PCOD. I would advise a USG of the ovaries to confirm stagnation of non ovulated follicles being stagnated in ovary and also a blood test to detect insulin resistance as a cause of PCOD before giving her Metadoze. Please be under consultation of an endocrinologist to achieve balance between two causes of PCOD (viz insulin resistance and low thyroid levels).
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
