Suggest Treatment When Diagnosed With Systemic Mastocytosis And High Serum Tryptase Levels
Question: I have been diagnosed with systemic mastocytosis verified by high serum tryptase levels and bone marrow biopsy showing hypercellular marrow with mastocytosis and trilineage maturation. They believe the lining of my intestines are involved. They (the VA) oncologist has never treated this and have said they needed to consult with Dr. That have knowledge of this and I've been waiting several months for a follow-up. Should I be concerned by delay on going forward?
Brief Answer:
yes so much delay is unacceptable
Detailed Answer:
Hi
I understand your concerns.
Once the disease has been diagnosed, treatment should start promptly. There are many treatment options available, like interferon, cladribine, imatinib, etc.
I think you should insist on an early appointment from a specialist.
Hope this helps. I will be available for followup.
