Question: Hi doc, my daughter was born fair as a fairy but as days passed she become dark? I want to why this happened. Also I wish to know if her birth colour will return or how do I evaluate her skin tone as it appears different at different times of the day? She looks fair after her bath .. Will that be her skin colour?

Brief Answer:
Pigmentation develop with maturation.

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear
welcome to the HCM,
Melanin is the skin pigment responsible for the color of the skin.
New born babies are fairer because of the minimal skin pigment (melanin) maturation.
Gradually with days this Melanin start developing/maturating thus giving the dark color of skin.
With the exposure of skin to light this pigment spreads/expands giving dark skin color and vice versa.
When the skin is not exposed to light for some times this pigment shrinks thus giving the skin a fairer color.
Hope I have been able to explain you how the color of skin changes with light and without light.
Please feel free for the further clarification.
Thanks
