Question: i have positional vertigo. I had a mild attack in the morning which disappeared during the day. This happened after an interval of 4 years. I used to take vertin 8 mg. Now the doctor prescribed prochlorperazine 5mg. I have no nausea, just a discomfort when I change position suddenly in sleep. Please advice

Brief Answer:
prochlorperazine is for nausea or vomiting

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXX,
Thanks for posting your query in HealthCare Magic,

I have read through your query and I can understand your concern.
The medicine prochlorperazine 5mg prescribed for you by your doctor, as you said, is for nausea or vomiting. You are not required to take that medicine if you don't have the above symptoms.
You seem to have a positional vertigo which is controlled with vertin and stugeron medicines.

You may consider consulting an ENT specialist for an Eply's manuover or a Semont's manuover which is sure to give you relief in case you have repeated attacks in the near future. You may ask the doctor to teach you properly on the exercise so that you can practise it at home.

Meanwhile, you are required to do the following:
- avoid sleeping on the side with the ear causing you this problem
- use two pillows while sleeping
- always wake up slowly and sit for a while before you stand
- treat any underlying cause like migraines, ear infection, high blood pressure; if any
- avoid sudden head jerks

Hope I have answered to your query,
Please feel free to discuss further or else kindly close and rate
Regards
Thanks
