Ideally a psychiatrist will be best option for detoxification in regard to alprazolam. He will talk to you at length to help you in achieving abstinence of alprazolam.

If necessary he may prescribe you long acting benzodizeppines to counter the withdrawal effect of alprazolam. In rare circumstances (provided the dose of alprazolam is very high) there may be need for inpatient treatment although it is rarely required.
