Suggest Ways To Wean Off Lexapro

Question: I've been taking lexapro 20 mg for approximately 15 years sometimes dropping it to 10 mg. I have health
issues, leukopenia and have been sick with bronchitis and haven't taken the lexapro for three days.
I've been on various antibiotics and prednisone for approximately 5 weeks. Also been getting neupogen
injections for my white count. Would like to wean off lexapro if possible. Please advise Thank you XXXX

Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.
Lexapro (Escitalopram) is an antidepressant of the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) class.
Escitalopram should not be stopped abruptly,as sudden discontinuation may cause certain withdrawal symptoms.
Dose in adult :10 mg once daily;20 mg has not shown a clinical benefit over 10 mg.
Weaning off lexapro is preferable in consultation with treating psychiatrist.
