Sweat Smells Like Yeast. What Could The Cause Be?
Thanks for your query,
The sweat smelling like a yeast may be:
1) External Causes: Fungal infection (Candidiasis) anywhere in the body. Fungal infection is more common in skin folds like arm pit, umbilical and groin region for both the sexes. Other than this Oral thrush, Boil and paronychia are the causes. Yeast needs heat and moisture from the body to grow and sweating provides this environment.
2) Internal: Certain food which are hyperglycemic, XXXXXXX in carbohydrate and protein.
D/M or increased blood sugar and obesity increases the perspiration and smell.
yeast typically overgrows when the intestine does not contain enough of the friendly bacteria that prevent yeast and other substances from growing out of control.
Treatment: Find the cause and treat.
General: Avoid spicy food which causes excessive sweat, avoid fruits
Low sugar diet, maintain general body hygiene especially the arm pit and umbilical and groin region and oral and dental area.
Application of deodorant and antiperspirant with aluminum chloride hexahydrate, taking a bath in the night using good deodorant soap may be useful.
Sweating all night even if the room temperature is cold, think of obesity, Diabetes Mellitus and investigations like thyroid functions and lipid Profile.
best wishes.
