Taking Thyronorm For Thyroid Problem. Diagnosed With Crohn's Disease. What Are The Treatment Available?

My case history:
1) 2 years back, in September 2010, a Capsule Endoscopy was done in Sahara hospital, Lucknow, which reported 6 places ulcers in small intestine.
2) Then Doctor advised me to took TB medicines (AKT-4 kit for 2 months, then Rcinex 750mg) for 1 & 1/4 year course.
3) During the course, the digestion was good & no occult blood was seen in stool but as the course was over, I still facing the same indignation, stomach pain after meal & occult blood problem.
4) I have to go for stool atleast 3-4 times in a day (with much smell). And also facing gas problem after 2-3 hours of meal.
5) Sometime gets stomach pain
Net Result: Now, Doctor told me that you must be suffering from Crohn's disease, and it has no cure. Either go to Homeopathic or Aurvedic medicine.
Other problem: I am also having Thyroid problem, so taking Thyronorm 50 mcg.
Current medicine: Just now I started taking homeopathic medicines since 2 months, and experience no relief.
Kindly Answers of my these Queries:
1. Please tell what type of treatment I have to take?
2. Please tell which produces some drugs/foods known as probiotic product can help me?
Thanks & Regards

Thank you for your query.
If a diagnosis of Crohn's disease has been made you need to first understand that Crohn's cannot be treated, we can only help in prevent the attacks, maintaining a state with the exclusion of attacks, reducing side-effects, symptomatic treatment and to improve quality of life. Thus, education on the disease is very important. The main treatment modalities that are used to achieve the above mentioned goals include:
-Anti-inflammatory drugs (eg. mesalamine, budesonide, etc.)
-Immuno-modulators (eg. azathioprine, infliximab, etc.)
-Antibiotics (eg. metronidazole, etc.)
-Anti-spasmodics (eg. mebeverine, etc.)
You should discuss the possibility of adding these drugs to your treatment regimen, with your doctor.
Lifestyle modifications play a vital role in preventing aggravation of the bowel. Most common aggravating factors can be: coffee or caffeinated drinks, tea, popcorn, red or raw meat, dairy products, hot beverages, oily, spicy, fried or fatty food, sugar containing drinks, smoking, alcohol, chocolates, poultry. You need to observe the food items that aggravate your condition and avoid them.
A liquid diet and otherwise a low fiber diet should be followed. Also calcium, vitamin B12, and folate supplements are contributory. You could continue ferrous sulphate (fefol-Z) in your treatment regimen due to the loss of blood in your stools.
Probiotics help in digestion and are found to contribute in individuals suffering from ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease. Natural probiotics include: curd, yogurt, also available are probiotic drinks (Yakult in India), etc.
I hope I have succeeded in providing you with information you were seeking. Feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help.
Wishing you a speedy recovery and a healthy life thereafter.

Actually I knew this that Crohn's Disease can't be treated but at least some extreme treatment must be there in US/UK etc e.g. Intestine transplantation. please tell about such treatment, b'coz living like this, will be better to end the life.
Also please suggest from where I can get pro-biotic drugs/capsules in India or can be purchased online?
1 more ques: Do you believe that Crohn's Disease can be treated by other therapy e.g. Aurvedic/Homeopathy etc. plz see this

Thanks in advance.
I have gone through your link. The article also speaks about how yoga and ayurveda help in combating the symptoms of IBS, but mainly ulcerative colitis, which is different from Crohn's disease), but they only help in preventing an attack, as I mentioned earlier. There is no permanent cure for this.
There are surgical options to remove part of the intestine and replace it with other parts of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT), but these are considered in severe cases and result in poor quality of life.
Probiotic medications available in India are the following:
-Capsules Bifilac
-Capsules Becelac PB
-Capsules ViBact
-Capsules Vizyl
-Capsules GUTPro
Please do not be disheartened, I too have IBS (ulcerative colitis), but have not experienced the symptoms since 2 years now with only lifestyle modifications, and I lead a normal life.
Feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would also be happy to share my experiences with you.
Best wishes.

Many-2 thanks for moral support. I felt very sadness since I heard about Crohn's Disease.
1. Actually Crohn's Disease is not diagnosed yet in my case (plz see the reports), But after taking AKT-4 (2 months) & Rcinex 750 mg (12 months), The condition not changed much, hence my Dr said it must be Crohn's Disease.
2. Also when 2nd time capsule endoscopy was done after treatment, to see the effect of medicines, The capsule didn't come out in as usual. It came out after 4 months. So Dr. said there is some stricture in my intestine due to benefit of medicine.
*** Please tell, what is your opinion in my case?
**** Could I get your number to call only 1 time, to get some more inputs as how you manage your IBS problem? Sir, its very important for me, it will give more moral support. plz sir.
**** Please also tell the Pro-biotic medicines dose with name, which will more effective in my case?
Thanks.
I understand your frustration, as I too have been through this, but you need to have a positive attitude and strictly follow the instructions I have mentioned in our discussion.
I have gone through all your reports, and the occurrence of ulcers in the ileum is normally seen in tuberculosis or Crohn's disease; as there was no response to anti-tubercular medication, your doctors have assumed a diagnosis of Crohn's.
***In my opinion you should try the medication for Crohn's and observe the response, as the bowel gets inflamed in Crohn's that could cause the stricture like presentation. I am sure lifestyle modifications and medication will help you.
****All the above mentioned capsules can be taken once a day. Preferably in the mornings just before breakfast.
I am sorry to say that we are not having any facility for patient-doctor interaction through phone. But, you can contact me through my details on my profile page. WWW.WWWW.WW
Please write back to me anytime for further clarifications XXXXXXX I am here to help you.
Best wishes.
