Tingling, pin Pricking Sensation On Belly Button While Wiping
Question: Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...The last 4 wks I have experienced a tingling/pin prickling sensation right at my belly button when wiping myself from a bowl movement? How about that one!! Any ideas what may be causing this?
Hi Lin,
Thanks for your query.
I consider myself to come out with better answer if you can provide me some more details of your problem like :
1)Is the tingling inside the naval( belly button ) or in the skin around it ?
2)Do you notice any color change in the skin over the affected area ?
3)Does it do the same even when not disturbed ( as wiping ) ?
4)Do you have similar problem anywhere else in the body ?
5)Are there any aggravating or relieving factors, if yes please mention ?
Anticipating your response.

1) the tingling pin prickling sensation is inside the navel - not skin related
2) skin has not changed
3) I thought I felt the same sensation as I was looking behind myself at the bottom of my shoe to see if I had stepped in something. I repeated the same
move and it didn't do it the next time
4) no other place - I can wipe once and it will do it - wipe again and it won't
5) my tailbone has been sore the last couple of months - not sure if I did too many sit ups on a hard floor or what made it sore. After I workout then sit for a while is when it really seems to get really sore Its not painful just sore at times. So I wonder if a nerve is pinched or something and thats whats causing this sensation. My tailbone has been sore for a couple of months - the sensation is now in week 5. Should I have my tailbone xrayed? I also burp a lot and think I should have a gallbladder scan just in case - don't know if that might have anything to do with it or not. I'm 55 active and other wise in good health.

Hi again,
Thanks for the information.
The tingling and pricking sensation in the naval could probably be due to pull of the fibrous attachments between the intestines and the naval.I do not suspect it to be XXXXXXX
The soreness in the tail bone could be a result of too many sit ups , It could be a ligament stretch or inflammation in the tail bone causing the discomfort.A Xray will be really helpful in making out the cause and put you on appropriate treatment.Your idea about getting a Ultrasound scan is a good one ,get a abdominal scan .This can rule out causes of the burps and also the tingling in the naval.
Wish you good health.

Thank you so much for your help. Do you think if it is a pull of fibrous that it may go away with time? I don't have a problem living with this as long as I know what it is. Is a gallbladder scan and an abdominal scan 2 different tests?
Thanks again. You were really helpful.
Thanks again. You were really helpful.
Hi,
Yes, it may present intermittently as the intestines do have a peristaltic movement which influence the symptom.
Abdominal scan is one where liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen, kidneys , intestines urinary bladder will be observed.
Hope i cleared your doubts completely.
