Toddler Is Having Fever And Blisters On Roof Of Mouth. How Long Will It Take For Cure?
Question: My grand child has blisters in the roof of her mouth, she is 13 months old, she had a fever but does not have it anymore, How long does this disease last and what is the difference between foot and mouth and foot hand and mouth.

Blisters at the roof of the mouth can be;
i) Ulcerations, Traumatic incidents, low immunity of child,minor salivary gland lesions.
ii) Bacterial infections.
iii) Viral infections like herpes, Hand foot and mouth disease (HFMD).
iv) Allergic reactions.
HFMD is viral disease primarily affects children and is associated with appearence of macules on hand, feet, and oral lesions on hard palate and tongue can spread in the society, so you get to see more number of kids affected in your vicinity.
Foot and Mouth is viral infection which rarely affects man and is seen in sheep, cattles transmission of disease from infected animal to man occurs through milk, consist of ulcerative lesions on palms of hands and soles of feet and formation of intraoral vesicles which rapidly rupture and heal within weeks.
See, it is not mandatory that all the signs and symptoms of particular illness are present in every case. Usually the illness lasts for one to two weeks.
Oral lesions will subside in 3-7 days.
If child is having refusal to eat, try to give your child a plenty of fluids, diet like fruits, juices, soups, etc. Try to give her something which she likes the most avoid giving hot and fried food to your child. Maintain a good oral hygiene of your child.
If the symptoms persist or worsen you can take your child to a Child Specialist and get the checkup done.
