Whan Can Xylometazoline Nasal Spray Be Restarted?
Question: How long should last abstinence of xylometazoline nasal spray after which I can use it again? I was addicted, but succeded not to use it for 3 months! Now I am waiting for the septoplasty with turbinoplasty at august, and untill then my right nostril will stay blocked most of the time. Now, I am travelling from EU to USA in two weeks, so maybe I will need some xylometazoline or similar.

Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
If you have not used xylometazoline for 3 months you can use it again for 6 days.
It cannot be used for more than 6 days at a time.
It is always better to give a gap of atleast 6 weeks before you use it again.
To maximise the effect of xylometazoline instill 2 drops only in each nostril 2 or 3 times daily.
While instilling the drops make sure that you put the drops on the side of the nostril where the nose meets the cheeks.
The turbinates are located along the sides of the nose and these turbinates shrink in response to xylometazoline improving your airway.
The central portion of the nose only has the septum and it does not shrink in response to xylometazoline so if you instill drops there then it will be wasted.
Also while instilling drops you should be in head low position, again it helps drops to stay longer on turbinates and prevents trickling into the throat.
